Lone Ranger

Diving with the crew of the Lone Ranger

19 October 2006

They invited me to dive with them. We went out on the WhiteTip. Jim was the diveguide and Jake drove. Yvonne, Jody, Sally, Hayden, Richard, Yogi, me and several others.

First Dive was to Blue Holes in the Blue Corner Complex and a drift dive to Blue Corner. We saw many Gray Reef and White Tip sharks, a lot of large turtles Napoleon Wrasse, hundreds of Barracuda, Giant Travoli and many others.

Second dive was a drift dive to Blue Corner. I was about 88 feet enjoying the dive when I noticed Yvonne following a fish down with her camera. She was far below me. You can see where the chart spiked deep, to 119 feet (37 meters), as I went after her. Both our computers were alarming a PO2 violation (NITROX over Partial Pressure of oxygen). We were in no real danger as both of our computers were set to the conservative 1.4 ATM (Atmospheres) where the real limit for recreational diving is considered to be 1.6 ATMand at NITROX 32 (32 percent oxygen and 58 percent nitrogen), our gas for the day, our limit should have been 132 feet. You can easily see our reef hooking at 57 feet for about 20 minutes at Blue Corner. We saw many Gray Reef and White Tip sharks, Napoleon Wrasse, Unicorn fish, hundreds of Barracuda, Giant Travoli and many others.
